DJ Lumis believes that the art of music is alive and thriving. Born in Minneapolis and raised in San Diego, he has been playing records since he was old enough to say "turntables." As co-founder of Sweet New Style Productions, he threw wild & crazy parties all over California (from Diego to the Bay, yo!). In 2001, Lumis captured the attention of Industrial-Pop sensation Meg Lee Chin and joined her band, the Meg Lee Chin Experience. After a move to Los Angeles, a few years and a national tour with The Experience, and a guest appearance on the 2002 Pigface album "Easy Listening..." (Meg's mates on Ministry mastermind Martin Atkins' label), Lumis felt it was time to get serious about the music game. Following numerous collaborations with some of the finest up-and-coming artists in the local scene, he settled into his weekly residencies spinning records at famed LA clubs The Gig on Melrose and later, The Room in Hollywood. He also co-hosted the Beat Battle at REHAB Records' MicRAPhone Fiend twice a month.

Lumis worked with Victory Vampeal on Vic's underground hip-hop project White Rabbit. The two released a record entitled "17 Violations" which can be found on record store shelves and in used bins everywhere. From there, Lumis lent his talents to big-beat electro-popsters Shotgun Radio, laying scratches on their debut album "The Deserted Circus" (available in stores and on iTunes). Lu then began work on his solo record, "Hypothetical Questions and Rhetorical Conversations" which was released in late 2006. It's a self-produced, 15-track album of original instrumental music & carefully selected samples. It's been described as "experimental, hip-hop, trip-hop, acid-jazz, downtempo, sample-adelic turntable-icious electro funk." Also available is the DJ's brand new mixtape CD "Where the Shadows Run" and his remastered 1999 mixtape CD "A Downtempo Daydream."

As a solo artist, Lumis has graced stages large and small in some of LA's most infamous venues, including the Knitting Factory, the Derby, House of Blues, B.B. King's, Fais Do-Do, the Viper Room, 14 Below, Club Good Hurt, Zen Sushi, the Roxy, and more. He's shared the bill with artists such as Zion I, One Block Radius, Bicasso, Prozack Turner, Trek Life, 2Mex, the Literates, DJ SR-71, and Kid Beyond (the Human Beatboxer). He also regularly performs around LA and in the Bay Area with hip-hop heroes Illadapted and grimey hard rockers Bazerk.

Lately, the turntablist/entrepreneur has been putting a lot of energy into his start-up record label/production company/DJ service/promotional site called In Life We Spin, an indie organization dedicated to encouraging new talent and bringing the underground music scene slightly above ground. There's even talk of a clothing line in the works! (gotta get those Lumis pajamas, yo!). What else does the future hold for Lumis? Lots of cutting & scratching, another solo album release, a regular Saturday afternoon gig spinning at Floyd’s Barbershop in Hollywood, and, after appearing in commercials for both Timberland and Puma, he'll make an appearance battling a hand-drummer in a children's workout video, and resume his role as judge at Guitar Center's annual Spin-Off. So stay tuned...

Dj-ed Venues?: Kansas Radio, ClubNtime in NY, Daves Hideaway, KA..

About DJ AnthemZ: DJ AnthemZ, born September 13, ‘76 in South Bronx, 163rd and Gerad Ave. to the parents of Samuel and Elizabeth. AnthemZ was the son of a Real Estate Hustler, who was barely around managed to always provide gifts of musical significance. A guitar on his fifth birthday and four years invested in trumpet lessons at the age of eight was intended for spiteful influences that lead him to the world of hip-hop.

AnthemZ didn’t have further interest in instrumental bands so he then shifted toward hip-hop music, learning how to DJ in the seventh grade [‘87]. At the age of 12, he worked at AC -BAW Center for the Arts; an art gallery, setting up sound systems for parties and events. This exposed AnthemZ to how the equipment is hooked up and works as well as troubleshooting. In ’88, he started a crew called the Tribal DJs and F.U.C. crew [foundation Under Chaos] with some friends who had access to the biggest sound systems that neighbors could tolerate.

“Marlon A.K.A. ‘StitchMan’ Jackson (R.I.P.) showed me how to mix reggae and hip-hop doing blends on turntables,” says AnthemZ who is not just your typical Battle DJ.

Producing and Engineering is what DJ AnthemZ chose as a career path. At the age of 15, he moved on to a career with ‘Channel 18 Local Access’ for his High school.

“We helped edit and produce a show called ‘RAP INC.’ we were only 15 [years-old] acting and filming a high school movie called ‘Living Dangerously.’ I was exposed to the production and sync of audio and video.”

Much of the ‘90s AnthemZ worked with many local bronx acts such as Hasstyle, Seandon [Gutta Black of Team Invasion] as well as A.O.D.
“This is where I grew as a producer. Coming out of the ‘hood, I had to save and buy my equipment piece by piece."

Improvising allowed him to become more experienced at his craft, using equipment such as a Korg X3 in ‘94.

"I had to create melodies without sampling which allowed me to have vision as a producer and also take the time to edit sounds layer by layer"

In ‘01 Base One Music was started by his Uncle which allowed him to grow as an engineer working with the control of the 24 Pro-Tools program. In ‘03 he became a college radio personality for 91.9 FM and set a new standard for college radio in Kansas State University.

“I then moved back to New York, motivated by the success of my peers. At many times I work alongside success doing whatever need[ed] to be done, CD duplication, distribution, engineering and production, etc. In order to become successful you must humble yourself and mirror th[at] success by doing what was previously done by that individual to get anywhere near the top it is almost mandatory. No ego just cash-flow. The real movement in all essence is to bring what we consider good music to the surface. As a DJ I feel I am somewhat responsible for some of the music that is being played but there must be an emphasis on how I introduce the music as the hottest thing out right now. We have so many of them that were featured on my previous mix tapes. Desert Eagle got a joint on the crown stays in ‘New York Vol. 1’ called ‘Let the Techs Go.’ That joint is crazy; ‘Revolution Rap’ is what I called that; it is beyond gangster. Also Heron from Brooklyn he is on ‘Respect my Hustle Vol 1’ with a joint with the Clipse called ‘On my sh!t.’ There is a bonus track called stare and whisper produced by Jay Esco, that joint is a classic. Also Hastyle, my artist and I have been working with since ‘94 from Edenwald Projects we did an independent album with Hoodlum Entertainment called ‘BXTRA I’ and produced track 15 called, ‘In the Bronx.’

“I worked college radio in Kansas; 91.9 KSDB FM, ‘The Sonryze at Nite Show,’ ‘03 critically acclaimed and I lived in Atlanta, GA hustling mix tapes near the underground mall. This enables me to have the edge that I need to know where the music should be visible and placed at. I have built networks in many Mid-Western states as well as the South.

“I have a God given ear for music so this album will display a lot of talent that I will not just co-sign like on a mix tape but I will produce a lot of the albums beats and signature sound.. One of my other goals is to become recognized as a great producer in audio and film production [just recently did some audio sound effects and ‘foley’ design for a new Charlie Murphy movie called Twisted Fortune for Warner Bros]. I always felt that I can combine the various mediums to create a great production then my work is done.”

Born in Lemoore, CA in ’67 and moving to Portland Oregon in ’73, DJ Danny G is the eldest of three children. He has two sisters, one who just past away September 23, 2005; only 36-years old, due to Leukemia and youngest is 27-years-old. His family continues to reside in Portland, OR., where Danny G attended Milwaukie High School, graduating ‘84.

“I started in the music field as a DJ. The very first time I put my hands on the Turntables was in ‘88. I played at the very first City night club on Thursdays and Sunday nights. I did that about a year or so. At the time, I got married and had a son, so I went to school at western Business College in Portland, OR for Computer Training and tried the family thing.

“In ‘92, I went back to DJing at several nightclubs here in Portland. At the time, Techno and House music was hitting the scene. I got my hands on it, that was my choice of music. Before that I only played house. I was spinning progressive dance music like Dead or Alive or even classics like Egyptian Lover. In the year or ‘99, scratching was hitting the scene and that’s when I heard about DJ’s making their own music at home with PC’s. I didn’t want to follow a trend till a close friend of mine showed me a program called Fruity loops. This was in 2001. I loved it! Programming my own beats to be able to bridge my mixx’s. Then I bought several programs from there and started building my home studio.

“Today, I still DJ in Portland and my home studio has become my third love [my girlfriend first, my pit bull second].

“The equipment I use is a Pentium 4, 1700 with software of Acid Pro 5, Acid Pro 4, SoundForge 6&8, Protools, FruityLoops Pro Studio 5XXL, Cakewalk Pro 9, Creator Pro24, Sonar and Propellarheads Reason. I also use a Roland workstation with three Technics 1200MK5s and a Station SMX-401 mixer.

“I formed a production company with two friends, Kris [MC Nomad] & Lawrence [DJ L3] last year out of my home studio called Never Alone Kidz [N.A.K.]

“I have publisher and writer rights with my name and the production company. Just this last year, I’ve been premiered as a new hot talent on web sites from http://www.Musicbiz.net, http://www.AcidPlanet.com, and several others.

“The tracks I publish always go straight to Sony’s web site “Acid Planet” and they tend to stay in the top 10 in any style I composed. My inspirations come from artist like Dead can Dance, The Chemical Brothers, Fatboy Slim, DJ Icey, Carl Cox and DJ Qbert.”

Quickie Mart is at the forefront of the hip hop and jam band scene. It was just a few years ago that Quickie came up in the smoke filled, late night bar scene of New Orleans. Since then, he has distributed thousands of mixtapes, been featured on a number of other artists' projects, and toured every corner of the country as a solo act, as well as with other acts, like Galactic, iCON the Mic King, and Media Darling Records.

Quickie has played large events like the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival, the '05, '06 and '07 Bonarroo Music & Arts Festival, the '05 and '06 Voodoo Music Festival, SXSW, and Zen Festival. He has also shared stages with a variety of artists such as George Clinton & Parliament Funkadelic, Jurassic5, RJD2, Fishbone, Lyrics Born, Joss Stone, Perry Farrell's Satellite Party, DJ Klever, Particle, The Bravery, Akon, Gift Of Gab, Inspektah Deck, Lilly Allen, performed on stage with the legendary Dr. John, and appeared on NBC’s Last Call with Carson Daly Show as Devin The Dude’s DJ.

This talented DJ/producer/engineer has produced countless tracks, including the song "Q & A" by the Lucky Stiffs which was released on Scion's "Labeless Lifestyle" album and distributed world-wide through half a million copies. QM is also a part of the New Libation Orchestra, a New Orleans funk band, which features members of Galactic.

After the devastation of Hurricane Katrina, the rest of the world gave recognition to DJ Quickie Mart's hard work when he and his crew were featured in a three page spread in the December '05 issue of URB Magazine. Quickie, now West Coast based, is one of the hardest working entertainers from New Orleans, staying busy with a consistent hustle of recording and touring, while holding down a successful weekly in Los Angeles at the Air Conditioned Supper Club. QM also serves as the official DJ for Los Angeles super group L.A.'s Finest, as well as the tour DJ for iCON the Mic King, Haps, Know One, Soapbox and Impulss.

After accomplishing so much in such a short amount of time, it's easy to see why Quickie Mart has attracted so many people to his musical talents - and even easier to expect much more from him in the future.
