About DJ AnthemZ: DJ AnthemZ, born September 13, ‘76 in South Bronx, 163rd and Gerad Ave. to the parents of Samuel and Elizabeth. AnthemZ was the son of a Real Estate Hustler, who was barely around managed to always provide gifts of musical significance. A guitar on his fifth birthday and four years invested in trumpet lessons at the age of eight was intended for spiteful influences that lead him to the world of hip-hop.

AnthemZ didn’t have further interest in instrumental bands so he then shifted toward hip-hop music, learning how to DJ in the seventh grade [‘87]. At the age of 12, he worked at AC -BAW Center for the Arts; an art gallery, setting up sound systems for parties and events. This exposed AnthemZ to how the equipment is hooked up and works as well as troubleshooting. In ’88, he started a crew called the Tribal DJs and F.U.C. crew [foundation Under Chaos] with some friends who had access to the biggest sound systems that neighbors could tolerate.

“Marlon A.K.A. ‘StitchMan’ Jackson (R.I.P.) showed me how to mix reggae and hip-hop doing blends on turntables,” says AnthemZ who is not just your typical Battle DJ.

Producing and Engineering is what DJ AnthemZ chose as a career path. At the age of 15, he moved on to a career with ‘Channel 18 Local Access’ for his High school.

“We helped edit and produce a show called ‘RAP INC.’ we were only 15 [years-old] acting and filming a high school movie called ‘Living Dangerously.’ I was exposed to the production and sync of audio and video.”

Much of the ‘90s AnthemZ worked with many local bronx acts such as Hasstyle, Seandon [Gutta Black of Team Invasion] as well as A.O.D.
“This is where I grew as a producer. Coming out of the ‘hood, I had to save and buy my equipment piece by piece."

Improvising allowed him to become more experienced at his craft, using equipment such as a Korg X3 in ‘94.

"I had to create melodies without sampling which allowed me to have vision as a producer and also take the time to edit sounds layer by layer"

In ‘01 Base One Music was started by his Uncle which allowed him to grow as an engineer working with the control of the 24 Pro-Tools program. In ‘03 he became a college radio personality for 91.9 FM and set a new standard for college radio in Kansas State University.

“I then moved back to New York, motivated by the success of my peers. At many times I work alongside success doing whatever need[ed] to be done, CD duplication, distribution, engineering and production, etc. In order to become successful you must humble yourself and mirror th[at] success by doing what was previously done by that individual to get anywhere near the top it is almost mandatory. No ego just cash-flow. The real movement in all essence is to bring what we consider good music to the surface. As a DJ I feel I am somewhat responsible for some of the music that is being played but there must be an emphasis on how I introduce the music as the hottest thing out right now. We have so many of them that were featured on my previous mix tapes. Desert Eagle got a joint on the crown stays in ‘New York Vol. 1’ called ‘Let the Techs Go.’ That joint is crazy; ‘Revolution Rap’ is what I called that; it is beyond gangster. Also Heron from Brooklyn he is on ‘Respect my Hustle Vol 1’ with a joint with the Clipse called ‘On my sh!t.’ There is a bonus track called stare and whisper produced by Jay Esco, that joint is a classic. Also Hastyle, my artist and I have been working with since ‘94 from Edenwald Projects we did an independent album with Hoodlum Entertainment called ‘BXTRA I’ and produced track 15 called, ‘In the Bronx.’

“I worked college radio in Kansas; 91.9 KSDB FM, ‘The Sonryze at Nite Show,’ ‘03 critically acclaimed and I lived in Atlanta, GA hustling mix tapes near the underground mall. This enables me to have the edge that I need to know where the music should be visible and placed at. I have built networks in many Mid-Western states as well as the South.

“I have a God given ear for music so this album will display a lot of talent that I will not just co-sign like on a mix tape but I will produce a lot of the albums beats and signature sound.. One of my other goals is to become recognized as a great producer in audio and film production [just recently did some audio sound effects and ‘foley’ design for a new Charlie Murphy movie called Twisted Fortune for Warner Bros]. I always felt that I can combine the various mediums to create a great production then my work is done.”
